Help Alaa and Salim’s Family Survive Genocide and Starvation
United States
Alaa and Salim have been working hard to meet their family’s needs and ensure their survival since the beginning of the genocidal aggression in Gaza. They’ve carried on with fortitude and determination for nearly three years of bombardment, siege, enforced starvation and rampant disease. Now, however, Alaa and Salim have decided to ask for your financial support in saving their family. My name is Joanie Manzo. I live in the US and have set up this campaign for them. Thank you so much for coming here to contribute to this beautiful family’s survival. Alaa will tell you herself about her family and what they have endured:
“We are a family of five, father Salim and mother Alaa, and we have three children. I was pregnant with the youngest three months before the war began, and the suffering continued without food or medicine. I completed her pregnancy, and during the birth, the hospital was bombed, and we survived. Miraculously, she is now one year and two months old and cannot walk due to malnutrition.
“We are now living in the worst conditions. We cannot find food or drink. We have suffered from hepatitis due to the pollution and other diseases in the eyes and breathing. My children, Talia, who is 10 years old, and Nabil, who is 8 years old, have stopped going to school. They have been out of school for two years now.
“We suffer from providing children’s needs, such as diapers, healthy food and drink. If we have food, we find ourselves lighting fires made of nylon with unhealthy materials that lead to fatigue in our respiratory systems and unhealthy food due to the high prices.
“This is how our life was before the war. We were happy and had a source of income. Now everything is gone, the house and the source of income. We have nothing left. With your donation, I can feed my children, provide them with clothes and diapers, educate them, and provide them with treatment as well.”
Dear friends and ,
The situation in Gaza is worsening exponentially now. Eighty percent of the besieged territory is experiencing stage 5 starvation, with irreversible damage to those already suffering. Prices continue to skyrocket for the staples of survival. Money changers extort criminal transaction fees from a people who have no other way to access funds. For families who did manage to have some money in a bank prior to the aggression, there is no way for them to withdraw it.
Aid is nonexistent for the people. Of the little aid that does reach Gaza, much is stolen by gangs of thieves employed by the occupation who will bring it to the market next day at gouging prices. Selim has lost half his body weight, as fathers in Gaza go hungry so that their children and their mother will survive. Alaa is tired, weak and dizzy. The children are tired and withdrawn. They haven’t been to school in nearly three years and are malnourished. To say the situation is catastrophic is an understatement. All of this in an atmosphere of constant bombing, drone surveillance and demolition.
In this time of dire need, I am asking you to redouble your efforts to lift this family during the unimaginable terror imposed on the Palestinian people of Gaza. All donations of any amount are welcome at this time. Please also consider a sustaining donation of any amount by selecting a weekly or monthly contribution. Your generosity will be received with love and deep gratitude by Alaa and Selim and their young family.
